Born and raised with strong family values in a small Vermont town, Ms. Facey's love of children started as a young lady. After working her way through college as a part-time nanny,  Ms. Facey worked as a camp counselor at a summer resort on the shores of Lake Champlain.  It was there that she was approached by a guest with the opportunity of interviewing for a nanny position in New Canaan, Connecticut for a professional family with a newborn baby girl. The family offered her the position and Ms. Facey began her career as a Professional Nanny.

Upon relocating to Southern California in the 1990's, Ms. Facey planned to pick up from where her nanny career left off in Connecticut. However, she was extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism, honesty and quality of positions with the agencies she dealt with. Not only were the positions low in salary but the agency owners were trying to push her into taking positions that were not what she was looking for. She was told that "Everyone in Southern California doesn't care if their Nanny went to college or has years of experience" and "What do Nannies need benefits for? We're not talking about a career." Ms. Facey saw a clear need to change the public perception of exactly what a Nanny is and does. It became Ms. Facey's career goal to educate clients that a Nanny is not only a professional, but in fact, many have made it their career of choice.

In a matter of several months, Ms. Facey had founded " The California Nanny Company " in Orange County, California, and offered the services of Professional Nannies & Baby Nurses to prospective clients. Within one month, fifteen clients had registered and Ms. Facey was overwhelmed with the response. Clients and candidates were commenting on the thoroughness of the applications, the quality of candidates referred and quality of positions. Soon, Ms. Facey was being told that The California Nanny Company was the top agency in the area. After the first year, Ms. Facey's clientele grew to include high achievers in many industries as word quickly got out about her discreetness in the placement process and the quality of candidates represented. Ms. Facey's philosophies paid off; after two years, her placement success rate of  93% was virtually unheard of in the professional childcare industry.

As time progressed, more and more referrals began coming in and not only from California, but also from the southern and eastern parts of the United States. As her reputation had so quickly grown and satisfied clients were telling their friends, neighbors and colleagues about her services, Ms. Facey was receiving requests for not only Professional Nannies & Baby Nurses, but for executive domestic staffing positions such as House Managers and Personal Assistants, from all over the United States. It was at that time, Ms. Facey decided to expand to a nationwide market with locations on both coasts of the United States.
  Ms. Facey christened her new company, The Katie Facey Agency .

Ms. Facey attributes her successful endeavors to the first-hand knowledge she learned as a professional nanny. She feels that without her "hands-on" experience, she wouldn't have the ability to see both sides of the spectrum. Katie Tatro Facey studied Political Science at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island. Ms. Facey is regularly consulted by the media regarding her expertise and appeared in an interview with Jean Chatzsky of USA Weekend Magazine ®.  Additionally, she and has served as an informational resource to a variety media outlets. Ms. Facey is a supporting member or sponsor of the International Nanny Association , the National Association of Nannies, Nanny Alliance of New York and New Jersey, Better Business Bureau and the Greenwich, Connecticut Chamber of Commerce .
